B.2 BOARD INDEMNITIES
BY-LAW 4/03
1. Members of the Red River Valley School Division Board of Trustees shall receive a yearly indemnity of $6000.00 and compensation for attendance at special meetings and conventions beyond the regular board meetings at a rate of $16.00 per hour with a minimum of 3 hours and a maximum of 8 hours claimable. Travel time is over and above the minimum and maximum claimable hours. The Chairperson of the Board will receive an additional $2000.00 per year.
2. Trustees planning to represent the School Division at an out-of-province educational conference must receive Board pre-approval if expenses are to be covered by the division. A request would include expenses of up to $3000. with receipts. Trustees attending an out-of-province convention will be required to submit a written report.
3. Trustees shall be reimbursed for personal and travel expenses incurred while performing their duties as trustees. Receipts for allowable expenditures and documentation for mileage claims are required. Mileage will be paid at the divisional rate.
4. The amount of indemnity and compensation shall be established by the Board of Trustees in an appropriate motion passed by the last regular meeting of September, with the effective date of the new rates being October 1 of the year in which the new rates are approved.

Telephone conversations
Preparation of committee reports
Speech preparations
Special Meetings Claimable (Travel time claimable)
Committee meetings includes Committee of the Whole
Professional Development Conferences and Conventions
MAST Committee Meetings
Meetings with Superintendent, Government Agencies, Secretary-Treasurer, School Principals,
Participation in Employment Interviews
Meetings with Employee Groups from Schools
Cheque Signing
Parent Advisory Council Meetings
Public Meetings
Graduation
Invitations to School/Division Functions
Mileage and Travel time Claimable:
To and from Board Meetings
To and from any Special Meetings listed above
Minimum claim - 3 hours per committee meeting
Maximum claim- 8 hours per each convention day
