F.12 BUS DRIVER FIRST AID TRAINING
Policy:
The Red River Valley School Division Board of Trustees believes in the importance of safety on school buses, which includes ensuring CPR and First Aid Training of School Bus Drivers.
Protocol:
The Board requires that all Bus Drivers complete CPR and First Aid Training and that certification remains up to date throughout the course of employment.
New Bus Drivers will have a period of four months from the date of hire to obtain the Training Certificate.
The Board will cover the cost of the training course, whether it is arranged by the Division, or by the Bus Driver.
Procedure:
Regular training sessions are arranged by the Transportation Department. Where a Bus Driver is unable to attend these arranged sessions, it is the responsibility of that driver to make arrangements for their training within the four-month time frame.
