F.2 AUTHORIZATION TO DRIVE DIVISION SCHOOL BUSES
Policy:
The Red River Valley School Division Board of Trustees authorizes only those school bus drivers hired by the School Division to operate division buses.
Protocol:
The bus driver shall observe all the rules and regulations as set out in the Highway Traffic Act, The Public Schools Act and The Manitoba Regulations, as they relate to the operation of a school bus.
In the event of an emergency, the Transportation Supervisor (in consultation with the Superintendent & CEO) may authorize other Divisional employees to drive a Division school bus. Said employees must hold a valid Class 2 Driver’s License.
Under emergency situations (EMO) only, the division will allow individuals outside the employment of the division to operate school buses for other than educational purposes.
This policy does not apply to the operation of a Divisional school bus for the purposes of regular or emergency maintenance.
Procedure:
For the purposes of regular or emergency maintenance, Bus Garage employees may operate Divisional school buses as necessary for movement within and around the Bus Garage, delivery of a bus to an alternate location after service has been completed, delivery of a bus to an alternate location in the event of a break-down and delivery of a bus to a Divisional Bus Garage (or alternate site if necessary) for the purposes of maintenance.
