Policy:


Red River Valley School Division is committed to hiring the people who are best suited for the jobs to be performed, and to help it to achieve its mission, vision and goals.
 

Protocol:
 
Hiring Authority
 
All hiring authority rests with the Superintendent & CEO for all positions except those that are the responsibility of the Board of Trustees.

 
Selection Criteria
 
Selection criteria shall be used in the staff selection process.  Selection criteria represent the standards and requirements of the position that must be met by the candidate.  The Selection Criteria must be job related, fair and realistic.

 
Records and Reference Checks
 
Reference checks shall be completed before appointment to verify the assessed merits of the qualified candidate.  Continued employment is subject to the satisfactory results of a Child Abuse Records Check and a Criminal Records Check.

 
Probationary Period
 
Upon initial employment, appointments are subject to a three-month probationary period during which either the employee or the employer may terminate the relationship without cause or notice.  The probationary period may be extended or reinstated for a further period where the circumstances may justify it.

 
Orientation
 
Employee orientation must be completed within the first month of employment by the Division.  This includes, but is in no way limited to, orientation/training on Divisional Workplace Safety and Health.

Job Descriptions
 
School Administrators or Department Managers are responsible for assigning duties and preparing position descriptions.
