K. 2   AWARDS, FINANCIAL SUPPORT AND DONATIONS

Policy:

Red River Valley School Division Board of Trustees strongly supports many student initiatives.  The Superintendent & CEO is directed to disperse funds on their behalf as per the following Protocol.

Protocol:

Written requests for student awards, bursaries, financial support for student initiatives i.e. Encounters with Canada, Partners in Education, and yearly donations to Remembrance day ceremonies, school yearbook, sporting events etc. will be directed to the Superintendent and CEO. The maximum amount for any initiative will be set at $250.00.

Written requests for Mini-University Courses will be directed to the Superintendent & CEO.  The following high schools in the Division (Morris School, Rosenort School and Institut Collégial St. Pierre) will have two (2) funded spaces per school, per school year. Sanford Collegiate will have three (3) funded spaces per school year.  Any funded spaces not used by a school in a given year may be used by the other high schools.  If all funded spots have been used, additional spaces for Mini-University Courses must be paid for by the individual school.

Procedure:

Superintendent & CEO will direct the Finance Department to acknowledge the payment to the school and make payment available (general journal entry to school account or cheque).

At the school year end the Superintendent & CEO will provide an accurate list of all donations and supporting amounts that were awarded.
